    Scholarship Information

    The Sweden Institute (SI) is seeking professionals with ambition and a desire to change the world. With the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals, you may explore Swedish society and culture, advance your career and academically, and forge lifelong connections with Swedes and other international professionals.

    The scholarship is supported by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is designed for full-time, one- or two-year master’s programs. The Swedish Institute releases an annual call for applications for master’s programs starting in the fall semester.

    Future global leaders who will support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations are to be developed through the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals. The applicants should be able to articulate how their education will help their home nations and areas thrive sustainably. About 350 master’s degree scholarships will be awarded by the Swedish Institute in 2023 for study in Sweden.

    Conditions for Scholarships

    For the Scholarship to be given to you, you must:

    • Be a national of a nation that is qualified to receive a SI scholarship.
    • Possess a minimum of 3,000 hours of experience in the workplace.
    • Possess proven leadership abilities through work with your present or former employers or involvement in public society.
    • By March 30, 2023, have completed the university admissions process and been accepted into one of the qualifying master’s programs.
    • Submit an application for a master’s program that qualifies for SI scholarships.

    Eligible nations

    The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is open to nationals of the following nations:

    The following countries are included in this list: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Belarus, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Moldova, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe

    You are not required to be a resident of the nation at the time of application, though.

    Scholarship Duration and Compensation

    • The scholarship is for a one- or two-year, full-time master’s degree.
    • SI pays your Swedish university’s full tuition coverage upfront at the start of each semester.
    • For the duration of the study time, the scholarship will pay you a monthly sum of SEK 11,000 to support your living expenses.
    • Protection from disease and mishap.
    • A one-time Travel Grant award; students who already reside in Sweden are not eligible.
    • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP), a tool that will assist you in developing your career while you are in Sweden.
    • Possibility of joining the SI Alumni Network. You have a special chance to continue networking and advance your career as a member.

    • Valid and completed proof of work and leadership experience
    • Copy of your valid passport/National ID card
    • Motivation (will be asked of you in the application portal)

    Approach to Application

    You are not qualified for the SI Scholarships for Global Professionals, despite meeting all the prerequisites given above, if you:

    • Have lived in Sweden for a total of at least two years previous to the scholarship period, which begins in August 2023;
    • Formerly received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute for graduate-level study or research at a Swedish university or university college. Students who have previously taken part in the SI Summer Academy for Young Professionals (SAYP), SI summer language courses, or the Swedish Institute Summer University (SISU), may still apply;
    • Already possess a degree from a university or institution in Sweden;
    • Are enrolled in an academic program at a Swedish university or college right now;
    • Having dual citizenship in nations not on the DAC list of ODA recipients for the years 2022–2023;
    • Having a Swedish or EU/EEA citizenship;
