Students who can show in their own Personal Statement that they are motivated to pursue a career that will take them to a position of leadership in the energy or natural resource development sector in their own countries within 10 years of their Scholarships are eligible to apply for the Steve Weston and Trust Scholarships to study at the UK University of Dundee.
It offers overseas students a full scholarship together with a £1,050 monthly stipend for courses in the fields of energy, petroleum, and mineral law and policy.
Steve Weston is the Co-founder and CEO of Volt and a pioneer in the once-vibrant Australian neobank scene.

The scholarship is available for international students to study in the subject of <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;”>Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy courses in any of the following fields;

Conditions for Scholarships:
For the Scholarship to be given to you, you must:
- Be a citizen of one of the 27 chosen nations
- Have an offer for an LLM in International Mineral Law and Policy or LLM in International Oil and Gas Law and Policy for September 2023 and already hold an Honours degree in one of the following fields: law, economics, geology, petroleum, mining engineering, or finance at the second class upper level or higher
- Demonstrate that you meet the University of Dundee’s English entrance requirements.
- Show your capacity for thought and leadership.
- Possess a track record of success and the capacity to advance to influential positions
- Preferably a licensed attorney with some post-degree experience in the development of energy or natural resources in the public, business, or academic sectors.
Scholarship Duration and Compensation
- For a course, the scholarship duration will last 12 months.
- The scholarship will pay for one’s academic tuition (fees for 2023-24 to be confirmed)
- For living expenses for a single student, qualified applicants will receive 12 monthly stipends ($12,600 over 12 instalments of $1,050 each).
- A £580 thesis/internship report allowance and a £750 arrival allowance

Approach to Application
Candidates who are given unconditional admission offers to the full-time LLM in Mineral Law and Policy/LLM in International Oil and Gas Law programs should provide the necessary documentation to Alison Anderson as an email attachment.
A choice will be made on the distribution of these Scholarships before the end of June 2023. If you haven’t heard from them by then, kindly assume that your application for the scholarship has been turned down.
