Japan is one of the few Asian countries keen on attracting international students. In the past few years, the government of Japan has set a target of 300,000 international students to study in Japan. An international student can also work for 28 hours a week with permission. Some of the courses in Japanese universities are taught partly or entirely in English. You can also get a job in Japan after the completion of your studies.

As an international student who wishes to study in Japan, you will need a student visa. To obtain a student visa, you should first get a Certificate of Eligibility, which will be applied for on your behalf by the Japanese institution you have been accepted. Once you have your Certificate of Eligibility, you can then apply for your student visa at your local Japanese embassy with required documents. These documents are:

    1. Valid Passport with photocopies: It is an official travel document that identifies you and your
    citizenship.

    2. Passport-sized pictures of 4cm by 3cm dimension with a plain white background without any shadow or pattern.

    3. Certificate of Eligibility .

    4. Letter of Admission into a Japanese educational institute, indicating the duration and details of the course.

    5. Proof that you can meet the financial obligation.
