Attending social events is for sure a key way to make friends and balance your life abroad.
For most people, you may experience some levels of cultural shock, but just stay open-minded.

In Spain people are very open, loud and always laughing. My first time in Germany was completely different, I noticed the fake smiles on people’s faces, not because they are rude, but this is just how they smile.

So keep an open mind and learn to listen and observe before acting.
