Universities often utilize a system called “uni-assist” to help handle and process the applications from prospective foreign students, but there are German Universities that you can apply directly to as an international student.

Not dealing with third party who are not be friendly often times, the want to cut extra cost and the unnecessary time wasting are some reasons you might want to check out these universities. i.e For your first intended programme of study during an application semester in Germany, uni-assist charges EUR 75.00 for the examination of your academic credentials and EUR 30 for subsequent additional desired course.

Here are several Universities process international applications without using uni-assist, and Top-tier colleges are included in this.

    • Freie Universität Berlin (a total of 312.89 € contribution fee) Fall semester deadline is April 1 and Spring semester application deadline is November
    • Heidelberg University (172.50 € contribution fee) deadline is July 15, 2022 for the class of 2023. so start preparing your applications for 2024
    • Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin (315.64 € contribution fee) the deadline is 31 May for winter semester/30 November for the spring semeste
    • LMU – Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (138.00 € contribution fee for each semester) Application deadlines for the summer must be made by 15 January and for the winter semester by 15 July each year
    • RWTH Aachen University (approxomitly 1,132.00 euros per month) applications for the 2023 summer semester have started since June 1, 2022, start applying.

While some might say the uni-assist helps make the application process a
little seamless. This is subjective as many foreign students also like
applying to degree programs when their applications are handled directly
by the institution, rather than through uni-assist, if you completely
relate to this, this is for you.

I am not clear about the contribution fee. What exactly is contribution fee and are there any other fees one should know about?

Contribution fee is the amount you are charged per semester by the University. This amount covers your transport within the city or state for 6 months. By paying this amount, you also get other benefits as a student, like reduced costs for using some services like going to the museum, cinema, library….. and many more offers as a student.
There are no other charges from the university apart from the contribution fee.

Of course, there are other expenses for you as a student in Germany, like your health insurance, accommodation, food…… you know what I mean. These have to be covered by you.

Approximately 1,132.00 euros per month for RWTH Aachen?

@Sola are you sure about this amount?

This university has one of the highest, if not the highest number of internation students in Germany, and it is tuition-free! Over 1K EUR per month is definitely not tuition-free and probably not correct for Aachen. You should check that information.

1K+ per month would mean over 6K per semester…….
